Mouse, Trackpoint, and Touchpad Issue

Press keyboard shortcuts Fn and F3, F5, ESC, or click the top right of the touchpad twice to check whether the touchpad is enabled.

Note: Some systems have a keyboard key that can be used to enable or disable the touchpad ( Fn and F3, F5, OR ESC ). 

If there is no keyboard shortcut, use the Windows settings to check. Note: If the system does not have a working mouse, see this Microsoft link, Keyboard shortcuts in Windows, for general shortcut keys.

  • Check if the touchpad is ON/OFF.

 

1. Search for touchpad and select Turn the touchpad on or off. Use Windows key + S to open search options.

2. Make sure the touchpad toggle is set to On. Make sure the Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected option is checked if a mouse is connected. Use the Tab key to select the Touchpad option. Use the Spacebar key to toggle the option.

If you have an external mouse, Kindly try the below-mentioned steps.

  • Check for Windows updates.

1. Right-click the Windows icon.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select Update & Security.

4. If you see the Updates are available status, click Install now. Click on the updates you’d like installed, and then select Install.

Reboot your laptop and check if the audio is working. If the status shows You’re up to date, try the next solution.

 

  • Try updating the Touchpad drivers.

1. Go to Start.

2. Type "Device Manager" and hit enter.

3. In Device Manager, locate and expand the Mice and other pointing devices.

4. Right-click on the touchpad that is malfunctioning, and then select the Update Driver option from the pop-up menu.

 

5. On the next screen, click on Search automatically for updated driver software.

  • Next, you can try uninstalling the touchpad driver to solve your issue.

1. Go to Start.

2. Type "Device Manager" and hit enter.

3. Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the device, then select Uninstall device.

4. Select Uninstall and then restart your PC.

5. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

 

 

In case the issue persists. Please email the below details with the findings to check the warranty.


1. First and last name.
2. Phone number.
3. Shipping address (Cannot be a P.O. box).
4. A copy of the proof of purchase/receipt. (Name of the Store/Date of purchase with year/ Brand name or Product description).
5. A close-up photo of the manufacturer's label on the unit shows a clear view of the Gateway nameplate with the serial and model number of the device.
6. A few pictures of the issue.

    My mouse pad is coming up from the laptop. I need a new laptop.

    The whole top to the mouse pad is sticking up. These articles will not help. This has been going on for 3 weeks. I need a new laptop!
